Michael has practiced acupuncture full-time for more than 20 years and bodywork for 28 years, having completed a PhD in 2015, a Master of Engineering (Research) in 2004 and a Bachelor of Applied Science in acupuncture (UTS) in 1995 and a Diploma of Remedial Massage 1988.

He is also a researcher, presenting regularly at conferences, recently presenting in Beijing at the prestigious SAR conference in 2014, one of only 16 junior presenters selected from worldwide applicants.

In 2023 Michael launched an online project called the TCMCR a Chinese medical patient records system, which utilises his PhD defended diagnostic format called the Traditional Chinese Medical Diagnostic Descriptor (TCMDD). The TCMCR is a social enterprise, whose main purpose is to improve treatment outcomes in participating Chinese Medical practices.

Michael has also been a successful masters athlete; winning multiple World, Australian and State championship medals in track cycling, and brings to his clinic a wealth of experience in acute and chronic sports injury treatment and prevention, sports health and performance management. Michael is a clinically minded practitioner, who is dedicated to ensuring his clients receive effective treatment that specifically addresses their unique needs and issues and he encourages patients to adopt clinical nutrition guidelines to augment his primary treatment modalities of Acupuncture and Remedial massage.

Having worked with over 4,000 clients during the past 20+ years, many for 10 years or more, Michael has observed and treated an enormous range of diseases. These include sports injuries, chronic pain and persistent conditions such as asthma, headache and migraine, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), arthritis, auto-immune conditions, insomnia, anxiety, infertility, IVF assist, chronic fatigue and many more.

Michael loves to take on stubborn cases and delights in coming up with solutions, often thinking ‘outside of the square’ to do so.  He has an interest in the energetic systems operating within the body, having been involved in spiritual studies and meditation since the 1980s. His understanding is also continually evolving through ongoing practice and training, and through liaising with a network of peers who are committed to working with the whole person – physically, psychologically and spiritually.
