Michael has practiced Acupuncture for more than 15 years and bodywork for well over 20 years, having completed a Masters of Applied Science in Chinese Herbal Medicine (UTS) in 1996 and a Diploma of Remedial Massage 1988. His qualifications also include a master’s in Engineering Research (U Syd), and he is currently completing a PhD in acupuncture research (UTS). He specializes in Traditional Chinese and Japanese Acupuncture and has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Acupuncture (UTS), which was capped off by an internship at Guangzhou City Hospital, China.
Michael is also a successful masters athlete; winning multiple World, Australian and State championship medals in track cycling, and brings to his clinic a wealth of experience in acute and chronic sports injury treatment and prevention, sports health and performance management.
Michael is a clinically minded practitioner, who is dedicated to ensuring his clients receive effective treatment that specifically addresses their unique needs and issues. His integrated approach to treatment has a solid foundation in Western Medical Sciences; he uses Clinical nutrition to supplement his primary therapeutic modalities of Acupuncture and Remedial massage.
Having worked with over 4,000 clients during the past 20+ years, many for 10 years or more, Michael has observed and treated an enormous range of diseases, sports injuries (a specialty) and persistent conditions such as asthma, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), musculo-skeletal problems, arthritis, weight loss & diet, auto-immune conditions, insomnia, anxiety, chronic pain, infertility, IVF assist, chronic fatigue and many more.
This depth of experience translates to finely honed diagnostic skills, which enables Michael to provide an efficient and effective diagnosis, detecting the key issue(s) that need addressing.
Michael loves to take on stubborn cases and delights in coming up with a solution, often thinking 'outside of the square' to do so.
He has immense insight of the energetic systems operating within the body, having been involved in spiritual studies and meditation since the 1980s. His understanding is also continually evolving through ongoing practice and training, and through liaising with a network of peers who are committed to working with the whole person – physically, psychologically and spiritually.
